Race: Dolour aka Wood Elves
Lifespan: Immortal
Physical Descriptions: The Dolour are smaller, more bouncy Elves compared to their cousins the Eldar. They range in height from 5 to 5'5" on average and have rather tan skins and dark blond to brown straight hair. They're very earthy and rustic, have strong, athletic bodies, have green, brown or blue eyes and pointed ears.
Social: The Dolour are typically trusting, sweet natured, joyful people. They take pleasure in the world around them and hold the virtue of honesty and loyalty above all others.
Dolour have a pact with the Eldar to protect their borders and the golden bridge leading from the mainland to the Eldar's Isle. In return the Dolour are taught to fight with the Eldar, given many fabrics and enchanted things as gifts and are free to enter Bein'la.
As a race, they dance and sing often and simply enjoy being alive. However when its necessary for them to be serious and strong, they can step up. Many of the dolour are the finest bowmen in the lands and will hunt with single-minded focus upon an enemy.
Estimated Population: 88,000 individuals.
Standing Army: Yes. They are a guerrilla army that relies on archers and stealth to enforce their assaults. They are known to be able to fight an army ten times their size by using their surroundings, only if they are fought on home turf, as well as being able to properly set up large scale traps.
Their cavalry has no actual Dolour within it. Because they feel its wrong to ride an animal they instead command the animals of nature to fight with them. They can recruit anything from legions of Armaphants or stags to creatures slightly more sinister in nature.
Size: Small-Medium. Estimated around 9,500.
Brief list of Names: The so called, "Rangers of Dorne," are active in times of peace as well as in times of war.
Breeding/Relationships: The Dolour can breed with almost any other race that can breed with them though mostly Dolour only breed with Dolour. Females carry children for 9 months before birthing and can create as many children as their bodies allow them to.
Dolour children grow slowly, coming to full maturity around the age of 50. Children and parents are very close to one another throughout their lifetimes.
And though they are close to their parents and children, they are not very significant to their partners, flitting from partner to partner throughout their lifetimes. They are happy to share their lives with another for a while, but to them an immortal lifetime is just too long to have one partner the whole time.
