Terrastra Site Rules
Terrastra is a entirely custom, fantasy roleplay site. It is important for you, as the player or interested party, to understand a few things before you head on through the rest of the rules. The board, while still having no actual age limit, will have a mature theme running through it. There may be bloodshed and violence, vulgarities and sexual themes or situations in any place on the board (though explicit sexual RP is forbidden). Next important
thing to understand is the board is entirely RP with no set stats dictating one's strength or abilities. You must be responsible for everything you do, everything you implement and advancing your own roleplay. If you are very young or this does not sound like something for you, you should probably look elsewhere.
1. How to Join - This part is very important. Please read everything here! Some restrictions apply.
* Register a Username - Please enter a username you will remember.
* Activate your username - You will then be asked to activate your account through an activation email sent to the email you used to register on Terrastra.
* Post - After you have activated your account, you are welcome to take a look around, get a feel for the place and make your acceptance profile in the general board called "User Applications". You will be required to fill out the entire template given in the thread at the top of the board.
* Profile - After you've been approved, you should head to the next section and make your profile in the "Profiles" section of the general board.
2. Restrictions, Posting and Quality Control - There are a few restrictions on the board you must follow. The following rules have been thought over carefully and decided on. If you have a question regarding any of them, please feel free to ask the admin.
* No character should have the ability to change, alter or interact with the nature of time or gravity.
* You cannot dictate the actions of another player character.
* You may not copy another character either from this board or from another place. Be original. Don't make Legolas.
* You may use Face Claims or Real Life images for your character(s) if you must. We have never been fans of face claims. If you must use a real life image, no celebrities. You can find other models or original real life images from DA. We prefer if you use drawn images (needs not be anime, actually preferred not to be anime.).
* All vampires and werebeasts must be alike to the racial information, no exceptions. We don't want any Twilight vampires or whatnot.
* You may play as many characters as you'd like on your one account. But you need to put in some information on each character you play into your profile.
* Each one of your characters may be in only one thread at a time. However, you may be in as many threads as you have characters to fill them. (Example, you have 8 characters, each may be in a different thread at the same time). (EDITED)
* You must use proper grammar, paragraphing, spelling (spellchecker, folks) and punctuation.
* You must post in only past tense and 3rd person.
* Sexual themes and situations are permitted but explicit sexual roleplay is forbidden.
* Bad language, racism, religion bashing and sexism is required to remain in character. There is no limitation to the actions of your character in regards to IC roleplay however the latter three are not permitted in an OOC context and cursing should be left to a minimum.
* You are required to assign an appropriate name to your account. If your username is jon46hack, you can change it to Jon or any other simple name. You cannot have any numbers or phrases for your display name. Please be appropriate.
* No Godmods and MarySues. (See below)
* No Sheeple. (See below)
We apologize if these rules bother anyone but as it stands, we are not accepting any changes on any of these rules.
3. GodMods & MarySues - This has its own section in the rules because it is necessary to address this topic. To define, a GodMod is a character that has no weakness. This means no weakness in any skill or superior in any aspect. This is of course an extremist explanation. There are many cases of people with GodMod tendencies toward one aspect or another. Try to limit this in your character. You should always have weaknesses though they do not have to be stated anywhere, you should know them and should be willing to lose if you are outclasses, outmatched or outwitted. No one is unbeatable entirely. Anyone who attempts such a thing will likely have an encounter with the Dragon King.
A "Mary Sue" is the worst type of character. The Mary Sue may have many weaknesses but is often the damsel in distress or the helpless girl who can woo anyone with her extreme beauty. She can also be very talented (often in singing, lol) and said to be second to none in that particular talent though she herself is humble about her talents. Also, the act that she can randomly do immense magiks or that some massive beast randomly took pity on her and took care of her is common Sue mistakes and is not allowed. And! More often than not the roleplayer playing this character can back up none of this in roleplaying abilities. (Interruption, if an admin asks you the question: "Did you read the rules, old chap?" You should respond: "I have read the rules and I hate Mary Sues, good sir." Please continue along with the rules.) Please remember, you cannot dictate how another PC acts towards you, you can only interact and react accordingly. And not all Mary Sues are girls so even you boys can end up Sue-ish. If the admin sees something just wayyy too Sue, they will step in. Like that wild momma gater that took you in? It'll eat you.
GodMod and Sue actions will be the only way an admin will step in on a thread without prompting and there will be no remorse.
4. Sheeple - Sheeple are people who need the admin or staff to run everything for them. This is not the way Terrastra will work. It is almost solely up to the players to keep roleplay going. To put it straight forward; if you do not assert yourself, you will not be included. No one will hold your hand. And the reason we mention this is because it seems to be a large issue on RP forums. In the past we have seen good sites fall to pieces because they had all the makings of a great site, short of dedicated roleplayers. We give the members on Terrastra a large amount of freedom and only ask that you at least think up stories for yourself. If you can not handle free thinking, as most people had the problem with on our last site, we would recommend you look elsewhere.
5. Staff Run Things - There are a select few things on Terra that are strictly staff run. What are they? All the gods are staff run as it is not prudent to hand that much power to a person who plays for their own gain. We cannot risk someone playing a god and stepping on the planet and turning it to pulp. For this reason, not only are the gods staff run NPCs, certain characters are also staff run. The king of dragons namely as he could simply burn the world to nothing effortlessly. And while we prefer to keep from having too many staff run characters, these few are required.
If you find you are in need of the King of Dragons or are praying at the alters of one of the gods, you can PM one of the admin for assistance.
6. Adding to the Site - You may find when reading through the information that there is just something you think is missing. Whether its a new magik that we forgot to add and you think should be there or you would like to see more in a certain section of the glossary, the admin of Terrastra and are looking for more material and ideas. Especially the glossary that can never really be finished.
7. Signatures and Avatars - While many places are very lax as to what goes into your signature and avatar spots, we prefer to remain strict as to keep the board looking clean and fantasy oriented. You are only allowed to have an avatar sized 100x100 pixels or below and it must pertain to one of your Terrastra character, your alignment or god, or anything else related to the board. You should never have things like a random moving gif a break dancing bear, a real life picture of anything or anything else that seems irrelevant. Signatures follow the same guidelines but may be sized at any width up to 450 pixels and may not exceed 175 pixels high. Again, this is to keep uniformity of the board. Your signature should themed around your Terrastra characters only and should not use real life images. If you do add inappropriate avatars or signatures either by content or size, do not be surprised to see it changed or removed.
8. Contacting Your Admin - As the admin wish to spend most of their time enjoying roleplay along with the rest of the board so comments, complaints or concerns should all be addressed through pm (private message) and or through the request board in the general area.
