The trail to Hachmied needed to be cleansed. The travelers warned of the dangers that lie ahead were they continue into the hellish pit that the dwarves had created for themselves. Perhaps it was not enough to merely deface the entrance to the city, but to allow those who sought to get their self adulation from the shrines and holy cities. The trail through Spinner Woods was the perfect site for this reminder. God watched out for the life blood of nothing, the only god they needed to pray to was their swords and pray they fall luckily on their soon to be attacker.
Dagger crammed into the joint of a forest deer, Balok popped the ankle out of place before the crunching ensued. Removing the the creature joint by joint from its natural state and leaving its parts were only the first step. The hunter who had caught the dear.... his blood had been used. Every single drop to slowly drain into the dusty trail, spelling out a hidden message on the ground. Were someone in the trees to read it, they would see his message, but for these people, it was simply mangled remains with a gory scene to accompany it. It was a simple scene, a simple battle as well. The hunter had put up little fight, but that didn't mean he couldn't be part of a much bigger plan. His struggle had become more... civilized... more important, than simply bringing home the first beast he'd caught in a fortnight.
Removing the man's head along with its spinal cord though was a trick he'd learned a long while back. Hanging it suspended from two trees to look down at the message below. If anyone were smart enough or brave enough to remove the head before the crows came for his eyes... they would see the message.
'They will not protect you.'
