Athina, Realm of the Dolour
Athina is an open territory, a thickly wooded region mostly covered in coniferous trees and wildlife. During the summer, the land is thawed and green, full of life and the temperatures are mild warm to very warm. Spring and autumn are similar in that the weather is chilled and brisk for most of the seasons. Spring however, is very rainy and full of blossoming life whereas the autumn is full of glorious reds, oranges and browns of changing leaves. Winters in Athina are mild to bitterly cold and snow varies from a few flakes to a heavy snowing.
The land is filled with many Dolour who live in a nomadic lifestyle and excel in using their woods without changing them for both shelter and food. The people have a masterful knowledge of the land and can use it to their advantage whether its to fend away or trap unwanted visitors or to avade being seen.
While most the population will go unseen by foreigners, those who are part of their rangers are seen first, those who has there to protect their lands and to protect the bridge from Athina to Bein'lä.
Toward the western part of the region there are numerous guard stations placed for protection along the larger roads leading to the golden bridge and one beside the Shrine of Genna. There is a main road leading from the bridge eastward that splits after the three main guardtowers. One branch continues east, leading into Rythorn, their neighboring territory and the other heads south, leading into Aeidal, the unclaimed land of the west.
And the western coasts are nothing more than cliff edges, leaving the passage into their lands from the sea nigh impenetrable.
1. The Shrine of the Goddess Genna, located north along the Lebelas river on the west bank, just shy of the northern most lookout tower.
2. Lebelas River, runs north to south, starting in the northern hills near the coast. This fresh water river, starting from an underground river, is a most used water source for the land and for the people nearby it.
3. The Bridge of Malira, a golden bridge spanning from the island of Bein'lä and extending to the western shore of Athina. There are no apparant pillars or supports visible on the bridge holding it up, instead, the founders of Bein'lä, the oldest and most magikal of the Eldar enchanted this bridge to stand on its own and resist any wearing away or abuse from an outside force. The magik is self-sustaining so the bridge's power is everlasting.
4. Dorne Forest, the largest and oldest forest on Terrastra. It extends through many lands and is filled with things of great power, both evil and good, and is only recommended to experienced adventurers.
5. Athina Forest, is the more dense and friendlier part of the Dorne Forest. The name change for this section of forest came years back when the Dolour took over the land and made the woods safe there. Most of the Dolour live in the Athina Forest.
Guard Towers of Athina, places built amoungst the tall trees to house small legions of Dolour rangers. These rangers protect the land, the people, the Malira Bridge and most importantly, the Shrine of Genna.
