Luin, Territory of the Demons
The Luin region is a volcanic ash covered, mountainous desert that is heavily inhabited by demons. While many are weak and hide in the many crags, caves, and any other natural formation that could serve to hide one from eye, others live out in the open; dangerous, feral and hungry. As one travels deeper into the land, toward its heart, it becomes more and more likely to meet a demon of any type. It is most dangerous near Naegroth's Peak than any other place as the active volcano is littered with new demons who birth from the volcanic soil on the mountain sides.
The rest of the land is covered in dead, ash covered ground or rigid, jagged mountains. The climate of Luin doesn't change throughout the year. It is dry and hot at all times and grows extra windy around the winter months.
There are paths leading through the region and exit to five different directions into the neighboring territories, but to travel over any of the paths is perilous, even to experienced travelers. Many demons know those who come to Luin won't leave the paths in fear of what is in the vicious terrain around them and therefore many of these demons set traps for nervous passers.
Two of the southeastern paths lead into Felwyn, the northeastern path leads to the Felswoop Valley, the southwestern path leads to the Brint Desert and finally the northwestern path leads through a small mountain pass to the Annun flats. The roads are often riddled with the bones and corpses of the dead and in many places is thick with fallen ash.
1. Shrine of Bjorn, God of Pain is located in the central region of the zone. And is a few miles south of the largest mountain in all the land, Naegroth Peak. It has a small settlement surrounding it that has a large royal guard. Traditionally both Mornaquenta and Dur Hini have guarded it, making sure to keep equal numbers of each militia always present. The High-General of the Dur Hini is generally required to serve here while the Mornaquenta would send out a General with his own platoon.
2. Wizard Teleport Circle, a collection of magikal stones laid out in a large circle in which a Wizard or Magi can use to teleport to from any area unless otherwise specified (These include being in non-teleport places with magikal barriers or the Meiaja Island, etc.). A Wizard or Magi may bring other people with them as long as the Wizard or Magi is magikally strong enough to and has enough concentration. The landing space inside of the Circle never exceeds a 10 foot diameter. The circles were designed and created by an ancient order of Wizards whose names are now lost to history.
3. Naegroth's Peak, is an active volcano located directly at the center of the territory. Some say the demons have tried to create cities within the volcano but reports are unsubstantiated. What is known is the outside of the volcano is the breeding ground for demons and is littered with as many as 100,000 new demons at any one time. Naefroth's Peak is the most dangerous place in all of Luin.
4. The White Pass, is a certain place in Luin in which Ash falls from the active volcano in amounts so thick, one cannot see a foot before his face. This patch of 'snowing' lasts three miles. Often the ash is piled up so deeply in places that a tall man will be in the ash up to his waist. It is the second most deadly place in Luin to pass through.
5. Deadman's Marsh, is the only place in Luin with any water. However the waters of the marsh are hot, heavily sulfuric and full of bacteria, so much so that drinking from the marshes is deadly to those without an immunity to it. Deadman's Marsh is also known as the "Watering Hole" by travelers.
