Race: Rattles (The Slave People)
Lifespan: 40-140
Physical Descriptions: Rattles are bi-pedal, half-rat people with elongated noses and feet. They have long rat tails, whiskers, beady eyes, and big round ears that are often adorned with self-made jewelry, if able. They come in many colors ranging from white to black and anything in between. Most Rattles are only three to four feet tall and wear anywhere from clean linens, to rags, to fancy garb depending on their owners.
Social: Rattles are sly and curious by nature. They can keep moving for hours at a time without tiring and only need a few hours of sleep a night. Perhaps its because they have been slaves since their making that they work so well into that lifestyle. Perhaps it was chance.
One would think being a slave would ensue some sort of revolt or anger from the enslaved. The Rattles on a whole do not feel this way. When its all one knows, one doesn't question it. Many Rattles say that. By nature (and perhaps a little nurture) they are also nervous, paranoid and scared of what lies outside the walls of the home they serve. Most Rattles even like their lives (those who aren't abused anyway).
There are the few Rattles who live outside servitude though. They are a roaming band of mercenaries called "The Dire Kings". This group of Rattles are trained, skilled and dangerous. They move about the land, never staying in one place too long and keeping free from the confines of slavery. (See The Dire Kings group for more information)
Rattles aren't usually religious. They have no love of their creator; Tibbit Duril. If a Rattle is religious, it's usually because their master made them so.
They delight in cheese and many kinds of nuts.
Breeding/Relationships: Rattles can only breed with their own kind. This doesn't stop a master from taking what he wants from a slave however.
When they are allowed to breed, females carry for 4 months and usually have a litter. Litters range from 2 to 7 ratlings per round. The children are self-sufficient after two albeit very small. Since Rattles are property, their children are like livestock. They are raised however the master wishes either by the parent, a nanny or whatnot. They are often sold or put into work as soon as they are able to.
When Rattles are allowed to enjoy some freedoms, they find great pleasure in each others' company. Many groups of slaves will be as families to one another. Blood ties are usually severed in their lives so friendships are most important.
Magic: Very Low
Speed: Very High
Strength: Very Low
Skill: Very Low

Native Language: Squate. The native language of the Rattles is almost a dead language. Very few people in Terrastra speak it because being almost all slaves, the Rattles have been forced to learn their master's language and never speak their own. The language is a series of squeaks and has no written word to accompany it. The single roaming band of Rattles called the Dire Kings uses the language as a defiance to the world's slavery and to keep their language and small culture alive.
