Race: Gnomes
Lifespan: approx. 1000 years
Physical Descriptions: Gnomes are two to three feet tall. They are very slim and their heads seem much too big for their bodies. Many gnomes grow pot bellies after maturity. Physical traits include large, bulbous noses, beady eyes, large ears with extended earlobes, hairy features, moles and thinning head hair. Most males keep a thin, wispy goatee. Women like to paint their faces.
Social: The Gnomes are very eccentric, quirky and energetic people. They love to talk endlessly about trivial things and rapidly but never about personal matters. A Gnome's personal life is his own. It's often considered rude to ask a Gnome about his life or family. Very often when in conversation, a gnome will go from friendly to hostile and back. He will seem like your best friend one minute then act like you're a complete stranger the next.
They despise being mistaken for Hobbits.
Since their making, Gnomes have been a type of people overlooked by the larger world. They are often viewed as a pest or like a stray dog. Because of this worldly tone, the Gnomes have grown to dislike almost all other races. The dragons alone are treated with open friendliness upon random meetings. This is because of the Pact made between the Gnomes and Dragons (the one that keeps Gnomes under the dragon protection and allows them their own land inside of Draconia).
Gnomes like to forage for food. Insects and worms are a favorite.
Despite their rustic nature, Gnomes are very involved in Gnome politics. They have a strong socialist government where the leader and his group of Wisen-Gnomes collect taxes and goods to redistribute to the other Gnomes in their nation. The leader, known as the Gnome-Elect, is voted on by the population once every two years. The new Gnome-Elect decides how everything is run for the Gnomes for those two years. It's not always so good. All old Gnome-Elects, those who held office for at least one term, join the Wisen-Gnome council after their service as Gnome-Elect is ended.
Most Gnomes are very competitive of one another. There is often tension and unhappiness between them. But despite the constant squabbles, Gnomes have never had a civil war nor any argument they couldn't fix.
Estimated Population: 15,000 individuals.
Standing Army: No. Only because they rely on the dragons for protection.
Size: N/A
Breeding/Relationships: Gnomes only breed with their own kind, it's unknown whether they can cross breed with another race because as far as anyone knows, no one has ever tried or wanted to. Females carry for 10 months before giving birth.
Marriage isn't a priority to the Gnomes nor is fidelity. Because they have foul tempers, they don't often like to remain faithful to their partners and seek out others in revenge.
Magic: Very High
Speed: Moderate
Strength: Lowest

Native Language: Gnome'tone. The language is comprised of a series of small syllables and tones that make it sound like a monotone orchestra. Going very quickly but carrying great meaning. It is said they have the most letters in their alphabet, somewhere over 65.
