Race: Felwyn Humans
Lifespan: 80-100 years
Physical Descriptions: Humans vary in shape, color and size vastly. They range in height from 5 feet to 6 feet tall on average and weigh anywhere between 90 and 400 pounds. Their skin and hair tones can vary as much as their weight can. Human males can grow hair on their heads, faces, backs, chests, buttocks, arms, underarms, and legs. Some have less, some have more. Females also grow hair but not on the face, back, buttocks or chest and not as rough or coarsely as men do.
Women are usually smaller than men and always weaker though many women gain an excess of fat later in their lives.
Humans from Felwyn are usually not very clean. Bathing is something done occasionally and only ever by those of wealth and power, but even then it's uncommon. The women of Felwyn vary as much as their positions do.
Unmarried or married low class women without a job are allowed ragged clothes with muted colors, may not wear leggings or heeled boots and must keep their hair cropped short. Unmarried or married middle class women are allowed to wear neutral colors, plain dresses and heels but may not wear any jewelry that can be seen aside their wedding rings or paint their faces. They may also wear their hair long, but it must be pulled up when in public. They are permitted to wear leggings if they help breed/raise horses. The only exceptions to the rules here are those women of lower or middle class who work in brothels or bars. These women are allowed to wear red and may wear low cut, revealing clothing and shorter dresses. Often wenches go barefoot with ankle bracelets.
The women of high class and nobility are expected to wear the finest. They wear very low cut dresses, sometimes even tops that reveal the breasts entirely. The skirt of their dresses are often long and laced with slits along one leg or the other. They also are allowed to wear small shoes, often sandal-like shoes with hard bottoms and lace strappings. Jewelry is worn in abundance and painting one's lips is fashionable. In addition, wearing one's hair long and down is considered something only high class can do and therefore very few high class women wear their hair up. Ever. The only taboo among the high class is to wear the color red as red signifies being a whore or wench.
The men in Felwyn are much like the women. Commoners and middle class citizens are expected to dress their part and commoners are not allowed to carry a weapon at any time. Warriors and soldiers are men of middle class or above only and often wear their armors in public. High class men and nobles dress in rich tunics, thin leggings and thigh-tall boots. Heavy jewelry is also common among the elite and wearing one's hair long, even for the men, is looked upon highly.
The highest ranks of warriors in Felwyn always don heavy plated armors, carry weapons and often wear masks or hoods to keep their identities secret.
Social: Humans range from very unintelligent to rather smart and are arrogant and versatile. They can adapt to most any type of terrain and strive well wherever they go. They are capable of doing horrible things and acting on their impulses quite often without thinking first. Many humans will put themselves, their desires or wants before any others. Humans are victims to their passions. Though this isn't to say there aren't those who try to be good; there is courage, honor and valor in men as well.
Humans have a strong separation of duty between male and female. Men are the warriors, leaders and workers of the lands. Women are weaker. They are seen as a man's lesser and incapable of doing many things they probably could given the chance. Mostly a woman's job is to tend house, raise children, cook, clean, sew and see to their husband's needs. The only other jobs available to women is whoring, wenching and servitude (Mostly in Felwyn).
In Tirin, the humans believe in trying to live good, honest lives. They follow their king and his family with honor and do his will for the glory of Tirin. In Felwyn, however, the humans are more foul and prideful and evil. They follow 'The Overlord', Felwyn's equal to a king. Those who founded Felwyn are men of ambition, power and greed.
Both nations of humans have a single skill that correlates with the other; raising horses. The finest horses in the world are bred in Tirin and Felwyn.
The humans see themselves superior to all other races. They believe themselves greater than the dragons, wiser than the elves, stronger than the ogres and more skilled in craftsmanship than the dwarves, though in truth they pale in comparison to them all. There is more empty ego in the world of men than in any other race. It is the largest reason for their weaknesses and failures; their denial and naive minds.
Excerpt from the board history:
"Both of the newly founded human cities were growing at immense rates. Both had a stable economy, large budding cities and law systems in place. But there was a difference in the two. Tirin, the city that had been founded by a man of great moral and heart, was flourishing with good design. Each man who had come from enslavement and followed into Tirin was given a piece of land as his own to farm on and to pass down to his family when he perished. Each woman that was unwed was given a place to stay and food supplied for her until she was married. Every orphan child found a home.
From there, the king decided that each man who had a working farm and was interested in raising horses was given one male and one female from the king who would have dozens bred or broken from the wild.
The territory was bustling with life and at its core was base rules of fairness, respect and chivalry. Wrong doing was punished severely which kept down the crime in the land.
Felwyn however, was based on the strong. They too were given land to farm with but were expected to find what they needed through work or money, which reappeared swiftly in their society. The rule system deemed that each man was responsible for himself, his family and his land. The Overlord, Virgil Blackpalm, took little pity on anyone, especially women who were never allowed to work outside making clothing or preparing food. And since women were not given land, they were forced to find husbands or suffer in the streets.
Within sixty years, when the people had settled into their lives and their cities were built, the people were so ingrained into their type of living, there was little future for change. Prostitution quickly arose as a job for those women who couldn't find husbands. The number of bastard children rose faster than legitimate ones, giving way to more homeless, whoring women and more thievery, murder and anger. Women who were born into families were treated lowly and were expected to obey a man's will no matter what his bidding.
The men of the land were darker souled too. Each was possessive of his land and shared little with the outside unless paid for. Blacksmithing became a common trade and it became expected for every male to learn to carry and use a sword from the time he was young.
Felwyn also had a strong, corrupt social system. Those with the most money controlled everything. Those with the most money were considered nobility as well. When Virgil Blackpalm died his son, Daniel Blackpalm, took over ruling Felwyn. If it was possible, he was more ruthless than his father. The first Felwyn military was formed under Daniel. The military men were allowed to take as they pleased and were feared because of Daniel's uncaring to their wrong doings. Many new smaller cities were formed during his reign that grew just as corrupt as the first. The slave trade began anew here as well. Rattles were collected, bred and sold like cattle to anyone wishing a slave that could afford one. Felwyn became the center for slave trading in the mainland."
Estimated Population: 845,000 individuals.
Standing Army: Yes. Both cities have their own military. Tirin has a very steady breed of horse for war that is commonly entirely white. They are vicious and just as liable to attack the enemy as the rider is. Felwyn has felsteeds that breathe fire from all of their facial orifices.
Aside from this they have strength in diversity. The armies are filled withy every different type of soldier from nightblade to warrior to archer to mage.
Size: Large. Estimated around 35,000.
Breeding/Relationships: Humans can breed with almost any other race that can breed with them. Females carry children for 9 months before birthing and can create as many children as their bodies allow them to.
Marriage is expected of all young women. Sex before marriage is socially unacceptable but is so common in some places in Felwyn and even Tirin that many people won't even look twice. Being that humans are so passionate and spontaneous, marriage and divorce is common then remarriage. Homosexuality is forbidden and a killable offense.
